With the passing of Peter Falk I am taking the evening to watch a couple Columbo episodes via Netflix streaming. I may follow it up with a few episodes of the Brady’s or Gilligan in respect for Sherwood.
I’m a junkie for shows of the 60’s and 70’s (and to a lesser degree the 80’s) and when I watch I can’t help but marvel that this was network programming. When you look at the crud that is top rated today (with exceptions to be sure) I can’t help but wonder what happened to good TV.
Even looking at a show like Gilligans Island, there is a lot more there there than most critics would admit. It’s a wonderful microcosm of society at large forced to interact with each other in ways they never would in the real world. Yes we have silly plots but if you look at a number of the episodes there is a quiet social commentary there.
So with my nostalgia for these old shows I thought I’d toss it out the the readers to chime in with some of their favorite TV memories. What shows made the grade for you in the day (or make the grade today, whether live or in reruns).
Come on folks, we won’t judge you for your guilty pleasures, heck we may share them
