In his 04/14/16 press conference, Florida State Attorney David Aronberg explained why he isn’t pursuing a misdemeanor battery charge against Corey Lewandowski in response to what Lewandowski did to Michelle Fields during Donald Trump’s March 8th press conference.
A CNN story quotes Mr. Aronberg as saying, “Although the facts support the allegation that Mr. Lewandowski did grab Ms. Fields’ arm against her will, Mr. Lewandowski has a reasonable hypothesis of innocence.”
Now, why would Lewandowski have a reasonable hypothesis of innocence?
The same CNN story states the following:
Aronberg and his deputy who reviewed the case, Adrienne Ellis, said the video clearly shows Fields making contact with Trump’s arm as she tries to interview him, him recoiling and shows Lewandowski grab her arm and pull her away.
A story published by Fox News gives additional details:
Further, he [Aronberg] said that Fields, at the time of the incident, had been directed toward the back of the room along with other media members. She later approached the candidate and “brushed or touched” Trump’s arm, he said. It was at this point that Lewandowski “grabbed” Fields’ arm and pulled her away, he said.
The Hill quotes Mr. Aronberg as saying “that it was “not uncommon” for campaign aides to assist Secret Service “in clearing a safe pathway” for candidates as they navigate through a crowd.”
In short, Michelle Fields had been directed to stay back along with the other reporters, but she didn’t. Then, when she engaged in unwanted touching of Donald Trump, he recoiled, thus prompting Lewandowski to separate Fields from Trump.
Then there is this report published by The Hill on 04/05/16:
The same video which confirms that Lewandowski grabbed Fields’ arm also confirms that Fields touched Trump, despite what she tweeted.
Perhaps Fields was merely objecting to Trump’s exaggeration that Fields had grabbed him instead of merely touching him when he didn’t want to be touched. If that is the case, then Fields owes Sean Hannity an apology for this exchange:
In the above-shown exchange with Hannity, Fields tells him to “ignore all the evidence”. Well, Florida State Attorney David Aronberg looked at all of the evidence, and apparently Hannity is correct, which is why Aronberg isn’t pursuing a misdemeanor battery charge against Corey Lewandowski.
Sure, Fields was correct when she said that Lewandowski grabbed her arm.
Sure, Lewandowski made a false statement when he said that he didn’t.
Sure, Fields may have a defamation case against Lewandowski.
Still, Fields isn’t the innocent victim that she pretends to be.
The “Wanted” posters say the following about David: “Wanted: A refugee from planet Melmac masquerading as a human. Loves cats. If seen, contact the Alien Task Force.”
