We’re into round two now, but still some tremendous action (though I admit I missed some to watch the boxing match tonight — welcome back Joel Casamayor!).
– I hate to be right in this case (I’m a lifelong Duke fan), but I was: Duke died by the three. You miss fifteen straight three-pointers, and bad things will happen to any team.
– Duke also got totally out hustled. Great game by West Virginia’s Mazzulla off the bench.
– Finally, the odds that senior Duke forward DeMarcus Nelson reads blogs is rather slim, but if he does, I wrote a post for him. Poor guy — it really sucks to end your career with that sort of game.
– Marquette blew quite a few chances against Stanford, but the one that really grated me was that three attempt on their second to last possession. You know Stanford’s going to be leery of fouling you, so why not penetrate and either draw contact or at least get an easier shot?
– Any day in which both Wisconsin and Michigan State advance, and Duke loses, is going to be a bad day for my bracket.
– Has ever a game been ended with more emphasis than that flying tomahawk jam at the buzzer to cap UCLA’s thrilling win over Texas A&M? That was raw, highlight reel emotion right there.
– That being said, between UCLA squeaking past the Aggies, and UNLV’s good run against Kansas, the top seeds are sure showing some vulnerability, no?
