Madonna writes of her spiritual awakening to the teachings of Kabbalah in today’s edition of Yediot Ahronot, Israel’s leading tabloid daily:
“I started seeing that being rich and famous isn’t the end of the road, but the beginning of it,” she writes.
In the highest tradition of eyewitness reporting, she reveals: “Countless times I’ve travelled the world, performed in soccer stadiums, acted in films, dined with world leaders, I’ve achieved what’s considered a very high level of success. And yet I felt that something is missing in life.”
Her piece, which appears on the front page, was written in English – “by herself” as many fan sites reported admiringly – and translated into Yiddish.
NYMagazine’s gossip monger Katie Goldsmith isn’t buying the “by herself” assertion:
In a front-page article that Madonna supposedly wrote for Israel’s Yediot Ahronot newspaper, Madge talks about how her life was changed by a Jewish mystic who told her that “being rich and famous is not the end of the road, but only the beginning.” Guess a lot of us aren’t even allowed on the road at all, then. And apparently on a writing streak, she also wrote a song for ex Guy Ritchie, just after returning from London with Jesus Luz.
Meanwhile, Andy Towle has a wealth of ‘Celebration’ news:
Madonna as "party girl" returns in the rumored cover art for her new single "Celebration". It's a bit strange to see a shot of her lighting up a cigarette, given the strict health regimen she so readily flaunts. But it's also refreshing to see a lighter side of her again.
I've heard the single. It's good. Matthew Rettenmund, who supplied me with this cover shot, has his analysis of the new song. […]
Also, Rettenmund, who is a font of knowledge about all things M, tells me the earlier cover art featuring just Madonna's eyes was a fake: "First, it was supposed to be a promo (front and back were shown) but it had a UPC code so was debunked. I'm awaiting official confirmation, but I can't believe it's not real until someone shows me where those photos are from." The images on this cover art are reportedly shot by Steven Klein at a party in Brazil. We shall see.
Listen to Celebration (while it lasts on the web):
