The French Foreign Minister calls Iran a “stabilizing” influence on the mid-east. What did they put in his baguette, I wonder?
Or perhaps I’m taking this the wrong way. If we define “stabilizing” as “preventing significant alterations from the status quo,” and remember that the mid-east status quo is perpetually in a state of violence or near-violence centered around Israel, then I guess we can say Iran is very stabilizing indeed. In fact, I dare say that if left to its own devices, Iran might permanently prevent the debilitating destabilizatiion that would result from mid-east peace.
