To ring in the weekend, here are two cautionary articles from the Arab world that relate to President Obama’s attempt to reach out to the Arab world and the price Israel might pay for opposing his efforts and refusing to pursue peace with Palestinians.
First is an editorial from Egypt’s Algomhuria that urges Arab leaders, based on the way the new Israeli government had appeared to rebuff President Obama’s renewed call for a two state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian crisis, not to waste their time talking to the “fanatical apartheid government of Israel.” The editorial says in reference to the Israeli government of Benyamin Netanyahu:
“All evidence indicates a very short government mandate, especially since its stated policies of provocation clash with the politics and interests of her key ally, which is trying to beautify its image in the eyes of the world.”
Next up is an article from L’Orient Le Jour by legendary Lebanese columnist Issa Goraieb, in which he discusses President Obama’s historic visit to Turkey and warns Israelis that their defiance has put them on a “collision course” with the American president:
“Despite the commitments to support Israel that are required of every America chief executive, Israel may soon find itself, whether it likes it or not, on a collision course with Barack Obama. Only in refusing to submit to Israel, as so many of his predecessors have found themselves obliged to do, will Obama have truly brought this region its fair share of change.”

Gilad Erdan, minister of the environmental protection and one of the pillars of the fanatical apartheid government of Israel, responded to American President Obama’s invitation to accept a two state solution by saying that Israel doesn’t take orders from anyone, not even Obama, and that it will not become the 51st state of the United States of America.
