Having had many relatives rounded up, hauled off to concentration camps and exterminated by the Nazis during World War II and having listened to the obscene threats by presidential candidate Trump to round-up and deport millions of undocumented immigrants, I was shaken to the core by a video I recently watched.
It is the video of a Holocaust survivor of both the Auschwitz and Dachau concentration camps, 87-year-old Bernard Marks, warning Trump’s U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Acting Director Thomas Homan that history is not on the administration’s side.
Marks starts his remarks as follows:
When I was a little boy in Poland, for no other reason but for being Jewish, I was hauled off by the Nazis. And for no other reason I was picked up and separated from my family, who was exterminated in Auschwitz. And I am a survivor of Auschwitz and Dachau.
To laud applause, Marks then continues his heart-rending plea.
