Just as Will Smith donated his found money to the neighborhood kid on Fresh Prince to go to basketball camp, instead of giving it to charity, so too do promising individuals need the occasional financial boost, amid the huddled masses of poor at home and abroad that need our sympathy and open wallets. In that spirit, consider donating to aspiring screenwriter and novelist Jeremiah Lewis’s hard drive fund, to replace his laptop’s recently departed unit. I only met Jeremiah because our respective blogs were both on TMV’s blogroll a couple years ago, and through much online chat and a few adventures together, have found him to be a young writer of exceptional talent. He finished a novel recently and was the headliner at a small Virginia indie film festival shortly before. I’ve heard LA is even worse than DC for cost-of-living lunacy, so I’m sure your donations would really make this (not quite) starving artist’s day.
