“Pro- and anti-government supporters are clashing in Cairo’s central Tahrir Square, where thousands of demonstrators calling for the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak have been keeping a vigil for days,” the Associated Press reports. The wire service adds that one of its reporters “saw the two sides hitting each other with sticks and some were injured, with their heads bleeding.”
NPR’s Corey Flintoff reported just a short time ago that in downtown Cairo, there was “a counter-demonstration going on. … Hundreds of people who support Hosni Mubarak have come out. … We were surrounded a little while ago by people who wanted to tell how much they support Hosni Mubarak.”
