It probably doesn’t show given the once-every-six-minute plugs I’ve been doing here, but I really hate campaigning for things. Club elections, weblog awards, whatever–I just feel awkward. In an attempt to allieviate some of the embarassment, I devote this post not just to myself, but to all the blogs I feel comfortable endorsing for victory. There won’t be one for every category; only the one’s where I know enough to express a preference. And an important disclaimer: These are not the endorsements of The Moderate Voice. They are the endorsements of David Schraub. I can speak only for myself. Other bloggers views may and probably do vary.
Best New Blog: Wimn’s Voices offers a huge and diverse array of Wimn’s (Women’s/Womyn’s/Wymyn’s) perspectives on the issues of the day. Given the male slant of the blogtopia as a whole, this is a very welcome addition to the ‘sphere.
Best Individual Blog: This is one of the stronger categories, with quite a few stellar blogs that are deserving of victory, but I’ve thrown my support behind Lindsay Beyerstein at Majikthise.
Best Liberal Blog: It’s getting pounded, but I’ve been voting my heart out for the spectacularly underrated Legal Fiction. Publius is of the “write one post and write it spectacularly well” school of thought. That school has its advantages and disadvantages but Publius has honed to a science at LF.
Best Conservative Blog: The comment section sometimes leaves me queasy, but post-wise Captains Quarters is head and shoulders above the rest of the crowd in this category.
Best Centrist Blog: Hmm….
Best Law Blog: The Volokh Conspiracy is dominating the field. As it should.
Best LGBT Blog: See above, cross-apply to Pam’s House Blend.
Best of the Top 250: This race looked close for awhile, but fortunately the strongest blog in the group, Feministe has begun to pull away. Feel free to pad their margin of victory, though.
And finally…
Best of the Top 3501 – 5000: If you don’t know by now, you just haven’t been reading TMV enough. (It’s The Debate Link).
Tragically, if you want your vote to count, the only two categories (of those listed above) with bona fide tight races are Best New Blog (between Lesbian Dad and Hang Right Politics); and Best of the 3501 – 5000 (between The Debate Link and Blue Gal).
