A 21 year old Dutch corporal was killed in Afghanistan by the Taliban. While on patrol, a bomb exploded. The 21 year old Dutchman died instantly. His remains have been brought to Kandahar, his body will be flown back to the Netherlands next week. He is the sixth Dutch soldier to die in Afghanistan, but the first to die due to ‘violence of war’.
He was a member of the “Luchtmobiele Brigade”: an unit that operates behind enemy lines.
The Defense Department has not yet released the name of this brave young man, we only know that he lived in the city of Amersfoort.
May God bless his soul, may God bless his parents, and may the Dutch people, our government and military honor him by finding extra resolve to finish this mission successfully, no matter how long it takes. This is quite a blow to the Dutch people, of course, and a tremendous blow to his unit, to his family and to the Dutch military, but… we honor him the most by continuing the mission and by refusing to give up.
