The Colorado Secretary of State has been pushing as hard as other members of his party for investigations into voter fraud. Last month he announced that he had succeeded in finding 155 cases of possibly illegal voters in Colorado out of over 3 million voters.
Now this month after investigating the 17 cases the Secretary of State found in Boulder County the District Attorney of the county has announced that every one of them is in fact a verified U.S. citizen. This result shouldn’t surprise anyone who has been paying attention to other claims of voter fraud. The simple truth is that the officials in charge of our voting system are as far from perfect as any other human beings but aren’t the horrendous stumbling dolts that some would have us believe. The other truth is that people in the United States illegally have no real interest in calling attention to themselves by trying to vote in our elections. As a general rule they are here to try and make a living and know that should they come to the attention of the authorities that would be the end of that.
While it might be true that a majority of Americans think that Voter ID laws are a good idea (Largely because they know nothing of the lives of those that it really does present a problem to.) when events like this happen it’s just one more bit of GOP credibility gone in the minds of some voters.
