Yesterday we ran this post on how liberal bloggers helped force a controversial conservative online reporter to quit due to bloggers’ detailed investigations.
CNN did a report tonight on the controversy swirling around Jeff Gannon. It included an interview with John Aravosis, one of the key bloggers in this case. He has it on his site Americablog and you can view it by clicking here — then make up your own mind about what has sparked much heated debate.
We viewed the longer version here on our computer in San Diego and it was a swift connection. It’s a quite complete excerpt from Aaron Brown’s program, beginning with a stock news upsummer which frames the issue, ending with the interview segment.
It’s also important to read this defense of Gannon for another perspective on this.
Joe Gandelman is a former fulltime journalist who freelanced in India, Spain, Bangladesh and Cypress writing for publications such as the Christian Science Monitor and Newsweek. He also did radio reports from Madrid for NPR’s All Things Considered. He has worked on two U.S. newspapers and quit the news biz in 1990 to go into entertainment. He also has written for The Week and several online publications, did a column for Cagle Cartoons Syndicate and has appeared on CNN.
