A round up of recent reporting and commentary by a few centrist, moderate, and independent bloggers.
America’s next top models “photoed as victims of crimes.” Andrew explains that we’ll see “beautiful women frozen, electrocuted and beaten.”
Could probably carry Edgar Allan Poe’s approval.
Pete Abel explains why – when dealing with his statement that “three or more major parties is ‘the healthiest situation of all'” – he’s “compelled to qualify that statement because [he’s] just not convinced, healthy or not, that a more-than-two-party system is achievable in these United States of America, nor [is he] convinced [Americans] should waste any more time seeking such an outcome.”
A very good, interesting, thoughtful and thought-provoking post by Pete. He linked to this post yesterday already himself, but I wanted to give those who didn’t visit TMV yesterday (strangely hits are down when people don’t have to work, and are up when people are supposed to be working) a chance to read and comment on it (as well).
The problem isn’t a two-party system… it’s one-party rule?
Steve Clemons on Chuck Hagel who said that Bush could face impeachment if he ignores Congress regarding the Iraq war.
A great post published yesterday by Jack Grant about helping the poor and the power of a simple message: you’re not alone.
Munaeem on China, which is “fast emerging as a military power.”
Our good friend the Gun Toting Liberal warns that the day might not be far off, that (evil) pornography will be published on the Internet.
Becky writes at Preemptive Karma that “scientists for the past four years have been busy at work developing sheep that will grow human organs for transplant. Under the direction of Professor Esmail Zanjani, of the University of Nevada in Reno, the first animal-human chimeras are now a reality. Fully 15% of the cells in the sheep’s bodies are human and its organs are half human. I don’t know about you, but this development makes my skin crawl.”
She comments: “can you imagine life as a semi-human brain stuck inside a lamb’s body? It’s just wrong.”
Holly adds: See Joe’s earlier post for more on the magic sheep.
