Really?
A personal response is here.

In today’s world, being liberal is seen as a bad thing.
Certainly, I don’t agree, but if you’re pushing your philosophy on a high school class, there should be limits and it shouldn’t cross party lines…
BENNINGTON, Vt. –The school superintendent whose district includes Mount Anthony Union High School has labeled “inappropriate” and “irresponsible” an...

Should he pay for the sins of the past?
Well, it seems that he certainly should denounce them…
More here.

Check this out…
BAGHDAD, Iraq, Nov. 24 – A suicide car bomb exploded Thursday near an American convoy at the entrance to the main hospital in the volatile town of Mahmudiya, killing at least 30 Iraqis and wounding dozens of others in a burst of fire and shrapnel.
At least 15 other Iraqis died Thursday, including the police commander of Mahmudiya, while 5 American soldiers were reported killed in...

An update to my last post that examines how both the left and right are failing in their obligation to uphold human rights and human dignity around the world.

Call it the controversy that won’t go away…the controversy that has gotten attention here in the United States but is snowballing in Great Britain.
Was President George W. Bush merely joking when he is reported to have suggested bombing Aljazeera’s offices in Doha, Qatar in 2004?
Or was he serious and what we’re seeing now is a massive inter-governmental CYA operation — a fanny-covering...

‘Cause I’m tired of the no-change, status quo defending, power shy crowd that represents a betrayal of the left’s commitment to liberation from tyranny, equality of personhood, and everything we’ve always stood for.

…at Just Hillary. And, yes, it is a new website about you-know-who.
But it may not be what you think. Just Hillary isn’t an anti-Hillary hatchet job site — or a Hillary-for-President site. Rather, it seems to be a clearinghouse for all kinds of news and blog links related to Hillaryland.
And, indeed, here’s how it defines itself:
JustHillary.com is an independent news site providing...

Former Senator George McGovern says yes here.
NOTE: At first you might think this is somewhat outlandish — but it does mesh with some of the highly critical comments aimed at the present Bush administration by people associated with the first Bush administration. McGovern obviously wouldn’t move in the same ideological circles as Bush 41 — but they are likely to have some mutual friends.

I’ve always said that one of the best incentives for me to enter law is that I’d never have to look at a number again (except, of course, billable hours). Turns out though, that at least one old math friend is making an appearance in a New York drug prosecution.
Curses, vile subject! Why won’t you leave us Humanities geeks in peace?

My new co-blogger Justin Gardner wrote about this amazing story — it’s unbelievable, yet makes perfect sense — the other day (see link below), but I also have some thoughts on the alleged “plan” to bomb Aljazeera’s headquarters in Qatar (including some reaction from around the blogosphere).
Oh, and let me second Justin’s recommendation: Control Room is an excellent documentary....

(Note: This post originally appeared at The Reaction — see here. Needless to say, the use of WP by U.S. forces in Iraq is a touchy subject, and I’ve been attacked for even bringing it up. Plus, there are numerous components to the debate: Is it a chemical weapon? Should it have been used? Etc. There has been a good deal of tension in the blogosphere — see the links below. This is my attempt...

From TMV’s favorite poet, Michael Silverstein, aka Wall Street Poet:
For most Americans the big day this week is Thanksgiving. For retailers and economists, however, it’s the day after Thanksgiving. This is “Black Friday,” the biggest shopping day of the year, the day retailers hope to get into the black, the harbinger of overall holiday sales. This sonnet is a paean (of sorts) to this...

Bull Moose thinks so and writes:
On one day, his Administration excoriates those who argue for a withdrawal from Iraq. The next day, his Pentagon is sending out signals that they are embracing the notion. One day the Bushies sound like General Patton, the next day they resemble Michael Moore.
The Administration’s defenders are understandably confused. What is the Party line? Is it “stay the course”...

We always thought it was a terrible, unfair and inaccurate saying but perhaps in THIS CASE…
“Those who can’t do, teach…”
DENVER – Former FEMA Director Michael Brown, heavily criticized for his agency’s slow response to Hurricane Katrina, is starting a disaster preparedness consulting firm to help clients avoid the sort of errors that cost him his job.
“If I can...

Attention New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson: If you have presidential hopes, this isn’t the best way to launch them:
Gov. Bill Richardson is coming clean on his draft record _ the baseball draft, that is, admitting that his claim to have been a pick of the Kansas City A’s in 1966 was untrue.
For nearly four decades, Richardson, often mentioned as a possible Democratic presidential candidate, has...

Pajamas Media, the company that announced that it was going to revolutionize some aspects of the Internet in terms of bringing various bloggers together, offering a new advertising package, and earning bloggers more $$$$ for their mostly freebie writings, did some soul-searching on Thanksgiving Day.
It came in the form of this “blogjam” discussion on where the concept is and how it can improve. The...

Jonah Goldberg, in a Los Angeles Times op-ed piece, decries what he sees as the move of both political parties towards the political center — arguing that the days of bold conservatism are likely over…for now at least.
He sees us in an age of DINOS and RINOS:
I should back up. Dinos, of course, are “Democrats in Name Only.” Rinos are their GOP counterparts. Nobody actually ever admits...
