According to GOP congressman Peter King, the resignation of House Speaker John Boehner is a win for the crazies.
WASHINGTON – Rep. Peter King on Friday lamented the decision by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) to resign from Congress at the end of October after being under pressure from House GOP conservatives since he took the post in 2011. “I’m disappointed,” King (R-Seaford) said in a telephone interview. “This is a victory for the crazies. You can’t appease these people.”
It is no secret that a civil war has been taking place in the GOP, and Speaker Boehner appears to be a casualty of it. His resignation is bound to provide fodder for anti-GOP zealots who promote the false idea that the GOP is an enemy of the American way.
Critics of Mr. Boehner might celebrate his resignation, but their “victory” may end up being pyrrhic.
