Now, I’ve enjoyed what Klein has had to say over the years, but if the following from Eric Alterman is true, he may have just joined the three ring circus of partisan hackery in a BIG way.
From MSNBC, emphasis mine:
I went to a breakfast this morning sponsored by HBO and the Council on Foreign Relations where Tina Brown interviewed Julia Sweig, author of Friendly Fire: Losing Friends and Making Enemies in the Anti-American Century, here, before a small gathering of media and foreign policy...

Do we want them to have nukes? No. But do we want the same leadership that grossly underplanned the Iraq situation to tackle this Iran problem? And what are the consequences of success in Iran?
Michael Reynolds offers a thoughtful essay that answers those questions and many more.

Some say yes and some say no. Me, I’m in the “no” category.
Here’s an additional perspective…
Assimilation into the American culture has never been a one-way street. Some native traditions are discarded when immigrant groups become Americans, but some traditions are adopted into the cultural fabric of America and define the cultures of our many regions. Whether it’s the Scandinavian influences in our northern plains, the Jewish influences on the East Coast, the...

Well, as most of you know, that’s not really the media’s job. But it is the media’s job to provide a comprehensive look at what’s going on, whether it be good or bad.

This from the New York Sun:
“Defendant testified that he was specifically authorized in advance of the meeting to disclose the key judgments of the classified NIE to Miller on that occasion because it was thought that the NIE was ‘pretty definitive’ against what Ambassador Wilson had said and that the vice president thought that it was ‘very important’ for the key judgments of the NIE to come out,” Mr. Fitzgerald wrote.
Mr. Libby is said to have testified that...

When it comes to communicating with voters, it’s the quality stupid.
From Political Wire:
One of the most important things to do on a campaign is to target your resources. Target your time. Target your money. And target your message. Don’t try to “sell” a 30 year-old father of two the same way you “sell” a 75 year-old grandmother of ten. Ask yourself, “How does this policy/issue impact this voter?” Then, tailor your message for that person or representative...

Yes, it’s happening…
In the new procedure, doctors extract muscle and bladder cells from a small piece of the patient’s own bladder. The cells are grown in a Petri dish, then layered onto a three-dimensional mold shaped like a bladder.
In a few weeks, the cells produce a new bladder, which is implanted into the patient. Within a few more weeks, the new bladder has grown to normal size and has started functioning.

From the AP:
WASHINGTON – Supporters of a guest worker program that would let illegal immigrants stay in the United States said Tuesday they don’t have enough Senate votes to overcome objections from conservatives who oppose the measure on grounds it amounts to amnesty.
As negotiators worked on a compromise to let those who have been here longest remain, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said a majority in the 100-member Senate support his and Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Edward M. Kennedy’s...

That’s right. He’s not seeking reelection and he’ll be resigning from Congress soon.
TIME has the scoop:
Rep. Tom DeLay, whose iron hold on the House Republicans melted as a lobbying corruption scandal engulfed the Capitol, told TIME that he will not seek reelection and will leave Congress within months. Taking defiant swipes at “the left” and the press, he said he feels “liberated” and vowed to pursue an aggressive speaking and organizing campaign aimed...

Back on Monday, I shared the story of Kerry Horn. From the title you can surmise who he is and what he’s doing. Horn has said his campaign is, in part, a response to the religious right’s brand of devisive politics, not the least of which are the politics of sexuality.
In the story I cited then, he spoke specifically about how they focus on abortion and homosexuality, but basically turn a blind eye towards adultery.
He has little patience for Christians whose political opinions are focused...

That’s right, but as you can see from the picture above, there aren’t enough spaces to display an additional number. In about 2 years, the clock will become obsolete. Currently the debt is approximately $8,370,000,000,000. And you don’t want to know what your share of that is…
Who wants to bet me the debt will be an issue in 2008?
