Matthew Holley was 21 when he give his life for our country. He was killed in Iraq by injuries he suffered from an IED. Shockingly, his body was very nearly shipped back to his family without full honors. Thankfully his mother and father stood up and demanded that Matthew be given the respect he deserved.
However, some of the fallen are still being treated as mere baggage on their last leg home.

There are few things easier than questioning the intelligent design folks. To suggest that such an idea is “the way” to truly teach science is certainly odd.
Also, given Kansas’ recent test scores in science, or the lack thereof, you can imagine that many in the blogosphere and beyond are having a good laugh at Kansas’ expense…
Balloon Juice has more about incompetent design…
Q: So is there intelligence in the design?
A: Yes! No, no there isn’t. The thing...

Things aren’t looking so good to the liberal-hawk blogger.
I am not at all optimistic about Egypt’s future in the medium term. I have yet to meet a single Egyptian who is. Their pessimism isn’t merely contagious…it’s convincing. The ruling party, supposedly America’s “ally, is hideously corrupt to the core. It is not ideological, just venal, well-armed, and criminal. Liberalism (broadly defined) barely exists here. The democratic opposition parties...

Good.
Because people, the treatment he said he received is sickening.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 – A German citizen who says he was abducted, beaten and taken to Afghanistan by American agents in an apparent case of mistaken identity in 2003 filed suit in federal court today against George J. Tenet, the former C.I.A. director, and three companies said to have been involved in secret flight operations.
The suit came three days after Khaled el-Masri, a 42-year-old Lebanese-born former car salesman,...

Sad indeed…
BAGHDAD — An unnamed woman, her face shielded behind a curtain and her voice masked, gave a harrowing account today of torture and sexual abuse at the hands of Saddam Hussein’s security forces during the trial of the former Iraqi leader.
“They forced me to take off my clothes, said the woman, referred to only as Witness A by the court. “They kept my legs up. They handcuffed me and started beating me with cables. It wasn’t just one guard,...

Subject2Discussion is an internet radio program I’m on every Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. CST. Apparently, the podcast of last week’s program was downloaded over 6,800 times.
So if you want to listen tonight, just click here and you’ll either launch an audio application or you’ll download a file that you then click on and THEN it launches an audio player. I’m on a Mac so it’s different for me.
Hope you like the show.

Amid a flurry of news about their secret prisons being in Europe, the CIA has decided to move their prisoners to Northern Africa.
From ABC News:
Dec. 5, 2005 — Two CIA secret prisons were operating in Eastern Europe until last month when they were shut down following Human Rights Watch reports of their existence in Poland and Romania.
Current and former CIA officers speaking to ABC News on the condition of confidentiality say the United States scrambled to get all the suspects off European...

On Tuesday Rice will touch down in Bucharest to sign a deal opening American facilities in Romania that will provide stopover points for US missions in the Middle East and central Asia. One of them is likely to be the air force base of Mihail Kogalniceaunu, which has come under suspicion as an alleged “black site.
