by Damozel | Hurray! Ann Coulter has semi-endorsed Hillary, sort of! Ed Morissey asks "Has Ann Coulter jumped the shark?"He wonders if this will finish her off with anyone who still takes her seriously, assuming anyone still does. Jill Miller Zimon has the video right here. Is this the greatest campaign season ever, or what? It’s not exactly fair on Hillary, but I can’t help chortling madly as I watch it again and again and again.
So. Ann too is well...

There’s certainly an argument that we get the government we deserve. It’s just that I feel that I personally deserve better.
About the best we can say about Attorney General Michael Mukasey’s testimony Wednesday in the Senate is that he was no Alberto Gonzales, with the frequent memory lapses and possibly intentional misstatements.
But that is a very low bar.(New York Times)
It certainly is. Dahlia Lithwick snarks, "Mukasey is only willing to make and defend...

Here in Florida, Hillary and McCain carried the day. Giuliani apparently is planning to drop out of the race and give the nod to McCain. And some conservatives ain’t happy, to put it mildly.
At The Corner, Michael Graham says, "Assuming there is no shocking revelation or health issue, the GOP nomination is over. Conservatives need to start practicing the phrase
"Nominee presumptive John McCa….." Sorry, I can’t say it. Not yet….. So it is over. Finished....

As far as I’m concerned, the two Democratic candidates really did steal the President’s show, even though neither said a word.
Truly, it was a treat to see both of them react to the President’s speech, especially during his comments on health care. Hillary responded with averted eyes and slow clapping, while Obama just scratched his chin thoughtfully. Neither exactly rolled his or her eyes, but the sidewise averted gaze of each was the nearest thing to. Bless...

My childhood was haunted by the monster known to South Carolinians in that time and place as "the atom bum." I lay awake nights worrying about a nuclear strike the same way children of earlier generations worried about the monsters under their beds or the crazy son the mean old man up the road reputedly kept locked up in the attic. It was my Boo Radley, but one I would never really come to terms with. We heard—from whispered rumors on the
playground of things overheard on the...

Bill Clinton rode the failure of Reaganomics all the way to the White House in 1992 ("It’s the economy, stupid"). In 1991, he said:
“The Reagan-Bush years…have exalted private gain over public obligation, special interests over the common good, wealth and fame over work and family. The 1980s ushered in a Gilded Age of greed and selfishness, of irresponsibility and excess, and of neglect.
This is true. So I have to admire the ingenuity of Republicans who have managed, ...

So we’ve reached the point where Huckabee’s emergence into “serious contender” territory has officially stopped being entertaining to me, however amusingly much it might annoy certain conservative pundits who pandered to the Christian right when it suited their perception of their interests to do so.
Here’s one of the reasons I’m not laughing:
"[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it’s a lot easier to change...

Do you know what word I’m already well and truly sick of hearing being bandied about with respect to the Democrats? “Surrogate.” Hillary’s “surrogate” said this. Obama’s “surrogate” said that. The remarks of the candidate’s “surrogate” or “surrogates” are attributed to the candidate, creating the need for candidates to surround themselves with supporters who are at all times completely reasonable, articulate,...
