Okay, so Don Rickles stopped being funny around the year I was born, but Eugene Robinson makes a point when mentioning in his WAPO article how Rickles’ recent Obama/Basketball joke bombed. Eugene Robinson – Comedy Tomorrow, History Tonight – washingtonpost.com While Rickles has made a career of racial stereotypes, President-Elect Obama does love basketball. He plays it almost daily, but to mention it in a joke clearly doesn’t play well. Even Jon Stewart tried to make fun...

Does this open letter to the American people by just about a gazillion Nobel laureates endorsing Obama help or hurt him? All 2008 US Nobel Laureates in Science Endorse Obama! – Scientists & Engineers for America Action Fund. The answer is neither because it doesn’t matter, but I’ll give my 2 cents. I think one of Obama’s advantages is that everyone knows he’s smart. Any idiot can get into Harvard, but some would argue Editor of the Harvard Law Review is a harder...

In a continued, doomed bid to appear relevant, Jesse Jackson opened his mouth, which automatically means something came out wrong. His latest is his opinion of the U.S. relationship with the “Zionists” and Israel. He wishes thinks that under Obama, Israel won’t be our special little friend anymore. This despite having no communication whatsoever with the Obama campaign on this topic or any other. REV. JESSE JACKSON PREDICTS CHANGE IN U.S. FOREIGN POLICY WITH OBAMA – New York...

Everyone has their opinions about last night’s debate. Many pundits say McCain won and the CBS polls and FOX NEWS & CNN focus groups say that Obama won. A lot of people are calling it a draw, which equates to a win for Obama because this was the debate topic that should have been clear for McCain.
The McCain camp has to be happy. Many words have been used to describes McCain’s behavior in the last week, but the one used most often is erratic and I think somewhat trifling. However,...

I guess by blogging about this ridiculous “lipstick” controversy I am participating in the press orgy over the topic, but I’m very confused. Why would the Red team use a ploy that would be a sure sign of desperation when they are doing so well? Will it work? I know this country is not made up of geniuses (myself included), but are people that stupid?
Maybe I have too much faith in the American people, but I just don’t get that they’ll fall for this. They’ll laugh...

Okay, so I wasn’t actually there, but I watched it on TV and I was aware of the history and in my opinion that’s what it was about. Obama did better than good. He did a very good job. He didn’t do a great job, but he didn’t have to. The significance of the moment was what mattered. I don’t care what your political affiliation is or whether you plan to vote for him or not. How can that moment not matter to you?
General consensus was that the speech was great. Even...

As a chic living in Chicago and now D.C., I have a pretty honed gaydar. It’s a survival tool for a single girl. So excuse me if I’m wrong, but this is likely the gayest drawing of a non-gay politician I have ever seen. And I love it.
The drawing was done by Lukas Ketner for a Portland area paper on April 30, well before the mass we witnessed yesterday. Willamette Week – “For The Love of Politics”. The theme that WW was going for was a baptismal Jesus-ish sort of thing to embody...

So we all know that Cindy McCain is loaded. She’s an heir to the Anheuser Busch fortune and has millions upon millions. I love how the McCains & Clinton’s have 10-100X the millions that Obama has and he’s the elitists. Whatever.
Because Cindy has so much money, I can understand that she doesn’t know exactly all of her investments, but she should have gone over them with her husband’s campaign people when he decided to run for President or at least when he got...

So the Federal Arts Commission has decided that the new MLK memorial is too “confrontational.” When I first read this and saw the image, I was ready to call SUSPECT, thinking this was about that “beware of the scary black man” foolishness because the arms-crossed gesture combined with a serious expression is generally code for “I’m a little pissed off.” I kind of like it, but the Christian in me is NOT a big fan of statues of individual people this huge....

Jon Stewart does a pretty hilarious take on how the presidential candidates exploited the anniversary of MLK’s assassination last week. The entire Hillary “recollection” is just too much. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Swedish company, Absolut, wants us all to drink to Mexico reconquering the entire U.S. Southwest? Interesting. I can just imagine the eyeballs of several FOXNews hosts exploding out of their sockets. Honestly, I’m not very happy to see that ad either and I’m sure many other Americans aren’t amused.
While I could hysterically call for a boycott as others have, I don’t drink, so I’m not really an authority here. I know people get hooked on a certain type of liquor and...

In remembrance of the lost blog tradition of Kitty Picture Fridays, I offer you this image of some kind of illegal political shakedown. I think this cat works for Senator Obama. I imagine him going across the country, forcing people down and demanding they contribute to Obama’s campaign. And from the look on his face, whoever took that picture is next.
I’m trying to figure out how I read/watch/hear so often now that Rev. Wright was the end of Obama and that white Americans will say...

You know I love Barry and I’m glad to see the damage from Rev. Wright appears to be reversing in the polls, but I’ll have to disagree with him on this bailout issue, as I’m sure I will on most actual political issues when he becomes our president.
He criticized McCain for his recent comments that the taxpayers should not be bailing out irresponsible banks and homeowners. Obama warns of ‘you’re on your own’ society – USATODAY.com. He says that McCain offers...

It’s clear that this study, if you want to call it that, was conducted by Cloned, Islamic Fascist, Abortion Doctors because of the hate at its core and disdain for the purity and perfection of America. To suggest that another country (let alone 21 of them) is more stable than us is sheer madness! We get pet medicine delivered to our front door for Pete’s sake. Tell me what is better than that and I’ll call you a liar.

Some things should make everyone laugh like the picture of a puppy & kitten locked in an embrace/fight/whatever they’re actually doing.
Some things aren’t as funny to certain people as it is to others. Try race. One of the reasons I think race is still such a big issue in America is because a lot of people lack a sense of humor. Look, people like to laugh and, for some, safe stuff just isn’t that funny. We like to laugh at things that straddle the line and sometimes we like...

Over the weekend, in several different settings, we were discussing Barry’s Pastor problem and some of what we found is that, among us younger black professionals, there is a lot of anger towards the older generation and a fear that Obama might lose because they can’t control their anger towards White America; an anger that we don’t share.
Obama’s Wright ties may be ‘big problem,’ some say – USATODAY.com

To take a break from the election overload, here is an idea for a kid’s climbing toy that caught my eye over at Gizmodo.
Anyone who allows their children to play on this should probably be visited by the department of child & family services. I’m a full-grown adult and I can see myself being gravely injured by this thing. I’m not against climbers. Studies actually show that they are great confidence builders in young girls and can help keep our kids from becoming fat asses like...

Yesterday, Barry beat Hillary Clinton…again by winning Maine, completing his weekend sweep. But that wasn’t enough. His bloodlust for victory spread clear across the continent as he went on to beat Bill Clinton by winning a grammy for Best Audio Version of his book “The Audacity of Hope.” Bill’s “Giving” was also nominated. Barry is relentless in his hunger for power. cbs2chicago.com – Barack Obama Wins Grammy for Spoken Word Book. Chelsea better watch...

As ridiculous as the Republicans have been with spending, we can always count on the Democrats to want to spend a little bit more. That $600-$1200 check you might have been expecting in June or July, has been delayed. Why? Senate Democrats wanted to add another $44 billion for the elderly, disabled veterans, the unemployed and “big business.” Stimulus package, with $44 billion add-ons, blocked

In, And Obama Wept, ABC Correspondent Jake Tapper discusses the cult of Obama and how its gotten out of hand. “It’s as if Tom Daschle descended from on high saying, “Be not afraid; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all the people: for there is born to you this day in the city of Chicago a Savior, who is Barack the Democrat.”
I was personally amazed at some of the statements by media folks who act as if they’ve fallen in love for the...
