Now The Quest Is Put To Rest
(Sung to the tune of “Try A Little Tenderness”)
She never wearied,
Though candidates get weary,
Repeating a cheesy stump speech.
She did it believing.
The nomination was still in reach.
She looked like a shoe-in,
The cash, the clout all brewin’,
It seemed such support couldn’t leach;
Who could have figured
That Bill her chances would impeach.
All the chits the pair had gathered,
Put a happy face on the start;
Now all her early backers,
Have found it prudent to depart.
(Surprise!)
So…now it’s Obama
The party’s new vote charmer,
Against John McCain he will go.
But if he falters,
She’ll be there to say: “Told you so.”
