THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON, THE WORLD SAW ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS. Or did it?

DON’T SAY THE PHRASE “WELL, I’LL BE A MONKEY’S UNCLE” at a Republican debate.

IS THE DOOR OPEN NOW FOR A RON PAUL RUN? Some think Paul has now left it ajar. The only problem is that third parties — the way the American system is set up — don’t really have a chance. A third party is a legitimate way of articulating a view but does not (yet) seem a viable way of actually winning the White House (unless there were some incredible split at the polls). So if Paul (who has highly-loyal supporters) does run, the hard-nosed question will become: so which of the two major party candidates will he hurt the most?

RON PAUL WAS ON MEET THE PRESS
and, due to his appearance on it, lost the support of Peoria Pundit. Details HERE. But Ron Paul supporter Red State Electric in an extensive (must-read) post is surprised at some of the reaction.

MITT ROMNEY SEEING HIS FATHER MARCH WITH DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. when he apparently didn’t march: is this symptomatic of Republican problems?

ROMNEY THE SEQUEL:
Hugh Hewitt believes Romney is has positioned himself very well now in the race.

BATTLE-TESTING HILLARY CLINTON: Tom Watson, in yet another TW post that needs to be read in its entirety writes about Clinton’s bad week and seeming “fall” media and polling grace.

This fall has been about a concerted effort of a large section of the national media to derail the Hillary Clinton express. You can see it in the spit that literally rises to the lips of Chris Matthews when he desperately - and with that shrill, feminine cackle of his - plays up any gotcha moment the campaign provides. You can see it the faux dese-dems-dose Archie Bunker populism of the effete, cuff-linked Michael Goodwin of the New York Daily News…..

Yet, Hillary is still on the rails. This weekend, John Sasso (who ran the Kerry and Dukakis campaigns and knows something about the right-wing attack machine) contributed a sober analysis of the campaign to the Boston Globe. His take? That Clinton’s rough ride is helping her make the case for her Presidency, that she’ll be a better, tougher candidate in the long run:

Of course, the underlying questions: is Clinton REALLY on the rails? A poll earlier today showed that she could win by a big margin in Iowa. Predictions, analysis, etc…are nice to read but this is a highly-fluid election year.

A PERIL OF MODERN LIVING: Sudden Divorce Syndrome.

A GREAT BLOGGER SHIFTS GEARS: La Shawn Barber is starting to phase out politics on her blog in favor of other topics.

THEY’RE SHAWKED…JUST SHAWKED but should they be? John Cole says NO.
