It’s Thanksgiving Day…a day when we should take stock and make a list of things for which we are thankful. And one thing is the Internet as an increasingly popular informational tool. Will it continue to wreak havoc with the traditional mainstream news media or will traditional info outlets such as newspapers adjust to it?

This is a special Thanksgiving Edition of our nearly four-year old blogging roundup — complete with two graphics that are sure to please — and displease — each party. Links (not necessarily on the holiday theme or listed in any specific ideological) do not necessarily represent the viewpoint of TMV or its co-bloggers.

THE FACE OF THE DAY IS FROM CYCLONE-STRICKEN BANGLADESH
and it is truly haunting. An update on Bangladesh from The 3rd World View (written in Dacca).

THERE ARE SIGNS THAT IRAN’S PRESIDENT IS NOW IN MORE TROUBLE than if he was attending a Jewish bris.

SPAIN’S KING JUAN CARLOS TOLD CASTRO WANNABE HUGO CHAVEZ TO “SHUT UP”
and now Spaniards want to hear it (and read it and wear it) over and over…

IS IT SCIENCE SCHMIENCE or politics schmolitics?

IS IT TIME TO REVAMP A KEY JUVENILE JUSTICE LAW? aTypical Joe says yes.

JOE BIDEN LETS ‘ER RIP ON FOREIGN POLICY and wouldn’t the Democrats be better off if more of them did just that? Ezra Klein raises this prospect in a must read post:

So long as I’m pumping up the Biden bubble, this interview he gave to Walter Shapiro on the inadequacy of the Democratic foreign policy visions has some interesting stuff in it. As always with Biden, there’s a fair bit of ego, but the upside of that ego is a total self-confidence when talking national security and international relations, which is an all-too-rare thing on the Democratic side. We really don’t have many national politicians who speak easily and confidently on foreign policy — which isn’t to say they don’t know foreign policy. But there’s a sort of embarrassment, an insecurity that what they want to say and what they really think will be rejected by the electorate, and that undercurrent of fear is pretty well sensed by voters. And because of that, Democrats spend a lot of time hedging their language, or making commitments that they think show resolve.

Shapiro is one of the country’s most solid columnists (he used to bless the pages of USA Today and their loss is the Internet’s gain). And Klein’s comment is a valid one. In 2000 you got the feeling Republicans were holding back how they REALLY felt on the Supreme Court and getting rid of Roe Vs Wade in some public pronouncements…as if by doing so they’d lose votes. These days there’s a sense when some Democrats talk that they are also holding back what they’d really say in private. And Biden? His candor is a breath of fresh air. It’s too bad the style of our media coverage and politics aren’t set-up to reward those who speak bluntly (if you don’t, The Conventional Wisdom Police take you down with the swarm technique).

SPEAKING OF PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS Rick Moran takes a look at what’s wrong with the Fred Thompson campaign. Is there something wrong? Is it on track? Are the media and bloggers just not getting it? READ THIS.

GEORGE BUSH’S SUPPORTERS LIKE TO SAY THERE ARE PARALLELS BETWEEN HIM AND PRESIDENT HARRY TRUMAN but is that really the case?
