Is There An Important Promise Harriet Miers Should Make to Congress? Some insist she MUST.
And How Has Blogtopia Reacted To The Miers Nomination? The New Editor expresses profound disappointment in a piece that MUST be read in full. A tiny taste 4 U:
“I’m underwhelmed” — Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit, referring to Harriet Miers.*
I’m underwhelmed too: by the Blogosphere’s collective reaction to this nomination, that is.
A few months ago, I wrote an article called The Quiet Spectacle where I discussed the collective behavior of the mainstream media during the 2004 presidential election. We saw evidence of the worst kept secret in America: Many members of the mainstream media were rooting for Democrats.
Perhaps a sign of the maturation of the “blogosphere” is a similar display of true colors yesterday. If you paid attention to the reaction of political blogs to the nomination of Harriett Miers by the president, you saw the blogosphere proudly display its weaknesses. The bloggers were guilty of the same type of mentality that the “MSM” is accused of: rushing to print without hard evidence, reacting rather than analyzing (and thus setting the agenda without having thought about it), and deciding collectively that since enough of them agree, then they must be right (and now go with it!).
Be sure to read the rest yasself.
But It Isn’t Only The Liberal Media That’s Biased. Some folks on the other side act like defense lawyers more than newsmen.
But Some People On Both Sides Seem Disappointed The Way It Has Shaped Up With Miers and here’s one VERY logical reason why…
There’s A Leftist Call To Computers (versus to arms) in an attempt to have a big influence in elections and other areas of the political process. It’s called American Solidarity.

Dogs Are Being Used As Shark Bait NO JOKE OR IS IT? We just added those words because a reader (see comments) says this is a fake photo. We were going to link to this some days ago but forgot. Since the link is up here to this item, we’ll leave it up but reader beware: the original source material may be suspect! UPDATE: (on an Around The Sphere item???): We just did our own fact check and the paper in question has a follow up item here. We can’t fly to France to re-report this so we’ll leave you with the original blog link and the follow up link yourself. Click on the main page of the Sun. It also has some legitimate stories. And THAT is all we’re doing on this item as we move on to more important stories.
Someone Knows Something Really Important That We Don’t Know…can you guess his name? (How did you ever guess it so fast?)
When TMV Lived In New Delhi, India a poet once gave me this lovely verse: “A good friend is as good as gold. A bad friend is bad, like bad cold.” This guy is like bad cold.
