Remember That “Non-Partisan” Group That Said Democrats Suppressed The Vote More Than Republicans? We ran THIS POST — the only one we apologized for within the same post…because it turned out that the group was actually a Republican front group.
Now The Brad Blog runs THIS FASCINATING POST that shows the “non-partisan” group has a new job — working for Vice President Dick Cheney. (We know what we’ll hear now: “You are a closet liberal and don’t understand that Dick Cheney hires people on his staff from many different parties.” Oh. Just send the Easter Bunny my way after he visits your house…)Brad even shows you a photo of the group’s luxurious offices — a post box.
“Bizarro Conservatism”: That’s what Outside The Beltway’s Leopold Stotch calls what’s going on now with the GOP — pointing to big spending in Congress by GOPers and the equivalent of Republicans now expecting the same judicial activism that they used to denounce from Miers. You MUST read this post (on one of the most prestigious conservative weblogs) IN FULL. Here’s a tiny piece:” So in relation to the Supreme Court, as they’ve proven through their behavior in Congress, Republicans show a complete lack of principles and indicate that they simply want in on the scam. Earl Warren would be proud.”
Yes. We’ll say it again. If you hear a rumbling sound, it’ll be Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan turning over in their graves.

The Blogosphere And The Harriet Miers Story: Does it provoke thought or nausea?
Robert Bork (he of the weird facial hair) Has Come Out Strongly Against Harriet Miers’ Supreme Court Bid and you can LISTEN TO HIM HERE in his own words.
So Laura Bush Suggest That GOPers Who Oppose Harriet Miers Are Perhaps Sexist but it was all the twisted media’s reporting that made it seem so. Judge for YOURSELF. First, watch it here via The Political Teen. Then read THIS POST by Pundit Guy and read what he says about White House interviews (he is RIGHT) and how this allegation holds up in the brutal light of something called reality.
PS: TMV is NOT a conservative (despite what a liberal local talk show host seemed to suggest yesterday in a chat that was surprisingly centered almost exclusively on whether anyone who says they are a moderate can really be a moderate) and is not up in arms about the Miers nomination on political grounds. Nor is he a liberal since TMV makes no bones about it: he personally agrees most often with Bull Moose. BUT we DO take issue with the Prez suggesting she is the best-qualified person (any day now THIS GUY will visit him) and with his winking into the camera so much that a smiling Monica Lewinsky may be knocking on his door.
Speaking Of Bull Moose: He has this MUST READ challenge to the blogosophere and to Democrats in particular. Our view? He’s right.
Guilt by association is practiced on both sides. The new name of the game in many quarters on the left and right is to totally go after, try to dismember and discredit people with whom you don’t agree. The issues on which people differ thus become secondary as ways are sought out to personally “gut” opponents. Perhaps the idea is that, if you put someone on the defensive, you undermine their ideas. Of course, if it’s someone YOU like who’s targeted, then it’s an intolerable outrage. If it’s someone you DISLIKE, you sit back and enjoy it — and look the other way. The bottom line is: to too many on both sides these days, if you disagree with them on one or two issues you are the enemy…even if you’re not.
