A Debate Over Faith-Based Politics (have faith in GWB, Cheney and Rumsfeld no matter what) is at the root of a heated debate between Andrew Sullivan and Hugh Hewitt. And we agree with Sullivan: American politics has a lot of “true believers” who seem to be more into a political cult of personality rather than a set of principles that transcend the individual. And standards applied to one party aren’t always applied to the other (their own). (That’s why we suspect the GOP is going to lose a lot of independent and moderate voters this year.)

Some Republicans Are Sympathetic To Joe Lieberman — And Some Democrats Are Sympathetic To Arnold Schwarzenegger…and they’re taken to the woodshed HERE. (Arnold’s poll numbers are on the rebound in California as he has tried to inch back towards the center since his debacle in November. If the election was held today he’d win, mostly because he is winning back support from independent voters and the Democratic alternatives are somewhat tepid so far).

More More On John McCain: Ezra Klein sees some of the arguments against McCain getting the nomination and giving the Democrats a run for their money flawed. And he gives us a detailed, point-per-point analysis of why.

Is Rick Santorum Really On The Way Out In Pennsylvania or is he on the road to a comeback? Polls show movement that should concern the Demmies.
GOP Jezebel: Taylor Marsh now has some guest bloggers and whether you agree with him (or some of the terms he uses) or not, Ed Encho’s take on GOP Senatorial candidate Katherine Harris is an interesting and provocative read. If Harris loses there will be a major financial depression on Washington: if she’s not there make-up sales will plummet 80 percent. We’ve run lots of takes on the Harris saga. Seldom has a candidate of ANY party so arrogantly ignored the virtual pleadings of his/her elite AND the party’s grassroots to drop out of a race…when the candidate’s location on polls is so low the biggest problem is dogs now sniffing around and considering whether to mark her. Is Harris’ persistence due to vanity, political blindness or a belief that she stood by the Bushes and they now sure as hell are going to stand by her? We won’t know until for sure until she loses (she will), until the political obituaries are written (news organizations probably have them written and saved already) — and until some enterprising reporter looks into it and finds out the REAL story about why she stayed in the race and her relationship with the two Bush brothers during 2000 and during 2005-2006.
