Verbal Overkill? Townhall’s Andrew Tallman will ‘take his chances with the Jared Loughners of the world’ over our Government.
Syria? Is it time for a regime change? Glenn Reynold’s view HERE.
Riots in England Over Budget Cuts: Is this a sign that Great Britain as we know it is on borrowed time? Powerline wonders..
Donald Trump Raises Birther Questions but some of the questions he has raised have indeed been answered. (In terms of stature, Donald, “Losing. Duh!”) Maybe that statement really didn’t come from Trump. Maybe it came from his hair.
The Left and Libya: Juan Cole offers this letter to the left.
More Wisconsin: More about Wisconsin, where political and legal loopholes are all the rage. Literally. Secretary of State La Follette says union law not in effect, Walker official disagrees. So despite the court and Secretary of State opinion, the law will go into effect. Details here. A problem: most laws are accepted because they go through a process and are accepted as legitimate. This is not: it is widely seen as a powerplay..by those against it (will challenge it) and those for it (cheering a victory that the other side can’t stop).
Meanwhile in Minnesota: John Avlon reports on the “Bachmannization of Minnesota.” It’s ironic to see a state once notable for Hubert Humphrey now being known for Michele Bachmann (but pundits: underestimate her at your own risk. Sarah Palin may one day be seen as being an unwitting stalking horse for Michele Bachmann.).
So Much for Americans Being Equal and All That Stuff: GOP Hopeful Herman Cain says he’d never appoint a Muslim to his administration. Just asking: what would the reaction in this country be if someone said they’d never appoint an Asian to their administration, never appoint an African-American to their administration, never appoint a Jew to their administration. Wouldn’t people on all sides and many sides be in an uproar. (And with a name like “Gandelman” let me clue you in: I’m not a Muslim.)
More on Elizabeth Taylor’s passing: We had three posts on Elizabeth Taylors passing, each done from a different perspective. My breaking news post roundup is HERE. Taylor Marsh wrote this superb post HERE and Dr. Clarissa Estes wrote this superb post HERE. Now here’s yet ANOTHER PERPSECTIVE on this great actress, celebrity and tireless activist to help those with AIDS.
Here Come The Came Out of The Close Jokes: No joke. Vice President Joe Biden’s staff locked a journalist in a closet for hours to prevent him from talking to people at a fundraiser. Biden should not be given a pass on this by the media and pundits. It’s a funny story, true, but it’s not a joke. I cringe entering into the common political game here but you HAVE to ask: just suppose Dick Cheney had stuffed a journalist in a closet to keep him from talking from guests at a fundraiser? It would be called yet another assault on freedom of the press. N-o-t f-u-n-n-y. Probably the main difference if Cheney had locked a journalist in a close would be that he’d never let him out. (Cheney would probably not do that anyway. He’d take the journalist hunting.)
So the GOP 2012 Presidential Field Looks Good? Senator Jim DeMint says the present crop may not be enough to inspire voters and if there is no front runner other GOPers should jump in.
The Assad Regime and Syria: It’s time for them to GO.
Buh Bye Illinois? Caterpillar threatens to crawl out Illinois to more hospitable economic and tax climes.
Is the New York Times’ Bill Keller Defensive about the impact of the new “guerilla journalists” — and does is this a bit of a jolt given the Time’s recent misstep? A MUST READ from Scott Rosenberg.
Hate by Tweet: A WEE announcer Tweets an anti-gay hate Tweet and then deletes it. Not good timing given the WEE’s official corporate push to reign in homophobic slurs in wrestling.
Not Everyone on the Left Is Upset At Obama Over Libya: Then nation’s top progressive talker Ed Schultz explains here why he supports Obama.
But is Libya Well Thought Out? Or are there false presumptions?
QUESTION OF THE DAY? “Can Religion Make You Fat?”
Conservatives Next Big Target: “ObamaRail”.
