Remember The “Nuclear Option” That Upset So Many In The Center And The Left when GOPers talked about using it on judicial appointments? It was the idea that the GOP, which was in the minority, would change the Senate rules so that the minority couldn’t use the pesky rule. There was a firestorm of criticism from Democrats over the prospect of changing the rule. Now, with the GOP threat of USING IT against Democrats looms, there are calls to tinker with the filibuster rule — this time from the Democratic side (which was so upset last time). One serious take on reforming the rule is HERE. The problem for Democrats: if they water it down, they’re forgetting the biggest “no duh” in politics: he who is in the majority one day could be in the minority the next day.
