It has been a busy few days for the state-run North Korean media, and much of the content generated charges that evidence proving Pyongyang sank a South Korean naval vessel was fabricated by the U.S. and the South to create the pretext for a new ‘War on Terror’ and rally allies to more greatly pressure the North.
So did the U.S. and South Korea engineer the sinking of a South Korean naval vessel in order to create a 9/11-style pretext to launch a ‘War on Terror’ in southeast Asia? According to these two editorials from the rigidly state-run ‘Korean Central News Agency’, the story of the North’s ‘torpedo attack’ is based on fabricated evidence and is ‘nothing but a lie concocted by the U.S. and south Korean authorities.’
The first editorial headlined Americans Trump Up ‘War on Terror’ in Northeast Asia argues that the North couldn’t possible have committed to the sinking, since, ‘as everyone knows,’ Pyongyang seeks ‘peace and prosperity.’ It says in part:
The United States is taking the lead in disturbing the world after the south Korean puppet authorities announced the results of their sheer fabrication, an “investigation” into the sinking of the warship Cheonan.
It is universally known that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea has been focusing its efforts on an all-out offensive to create a thriving nation by 2012.
In light of the common sense idea that development presupposes peace, the DPRK requires a peaceful environment more than ever. Precisely for that reason, the DPRK has put forward a proposal for establishing a lasting peace-keeping regime on the Korean Peninsula.
The fact that the American master and his south Korean servants benefited more than any others from the Cheonan case, which claimed the lives of 46 soldiers from the puppet south Korean army, proves clearly that the story of the north’s “torpedo attack” is nothing but a lie concocted by the U.S. and south Korean authorities.
The international community should pay attention to the fact that the Cheonan case presages the commencement of a fully-fledged Northeast Asian version of the U.S. “war on terrorism,” as this is being promoted as an Asian version of the September 11 incident. But this time, it was cooked up with the help of the south Korean puppet authorities. The goal is to render the political-military environment of the strategic hub of the 21st century, the Asia-Pacific region, decisively favorable to Washington.
In this second editorial, headlined South Korean ‘Traitors’ Invent Evidence Against North, the Kim Jong-il regime opines that the evidence that North Korea sank a South Korean naval vessel is ‘part of a scheme to boost the campaign against the DPRK around the world.’
The editorial says in part:
In the wake of their unpardonable branding of the DPRK as the culprit that sank the warship Cheonan, the bellicose forces of south Korea dare to vociferate about “punishment” and “retaliation.”
Due to the conservatives of the Lee Myung Bak group, which regard the warship’s sinking as the best opportunity to escalate inter-Korean tensions, the Korean Peninsula is dangerously on edge.
Against the backdrop of growing undisguised moves to escalate the confrontation under the pretext of the Cheonan warship’s sinking, South Korea’s military gangsters committed provocations like resuming psychological warfare against the DPRK in areas along the Military Demarcation Line with the DPRK.”
The ulterior motive if the group of south Korean traitors in using the Cheonan sinking as a way to spread a “theory of retaliation” is to stir up an atmosphere of sanctions against the DPRK around the world and to block its goal of building a thriving nation.
But this is nothing but a bluff, reminiscent of a puppy dog that knows no fear of a tiger. The DPRK regards the campaign by south Korea’s puppet forces to “retaliate” against their innocent compatriots as a serious phase of war.
