Both sides of my family are from Lithuania. Their lives are tearjerking odysseys of pogroms, holocaust, family, travel to far off lands, loss, sacrifice, education, work, trust, industriousness, love. My grandmother worked at the Triangle shirt waist factory that burned down in 1910 and started the modern union labor movement. My Grandfather directed a Yeshiva. My Aunt and Uncle were Zionist leaders in Palestine in the 1930s.
They knew suffering so that I can know possibilities.
I JUST got into my hotel in downtown (truly) LA….Yes, my grandmother Anna Moore (maiden name) was from Lithuania. I linked to this because Oxblog is one of my favorite sites and — as usual — it offer this post that…as usual…goes beyond a typical blog post.
