Maybe you’ve heard that our military is detaining an AP photographer indefinitely in Iraq. They scooped him up in April of this year, bu they still won’t charge him with anything.
Incidentally, the military did the same thing to a CBS cameraman in 2005, and subsequently released him after a YEAR of detainment at Abu Ghraib. Good times.
I have more on the unfortunate case of Bilal Hussein here.
I’m so sad to see our country becoming so hateful. To detain a news photographer just because of his skin color and name is disgusting. And to always assume someone with a middle east name is “the enemy” shows the narrow mindedness this country is taking.
It’s so sad to see what is happening and not due to 9-11 or Iraq. It is for political gain. The evil terrorists are everywhere mantra to keep the base in line.
In the meantime not only this innocent man, but hundreds of other innocent people are dying to fulfill politcal gain.
To add to vwcat, Bilal Hussein might not be innocent. He could be guilty as sin. The problem is that he isn’t charged with anything. If he did something wrong, charge him and get the guy. If he is harming people, I want him in jail. But don’t just hold him with no explanation.
The thing that I think is weird is that I read a story that stated the military has held seven other journalists in the last six months, but all of them were released. They are only holding this Bilal guy.
