  1. Paul in Austin says:

Yep, We are a teeny tiny community. We react so intensely to the Holocaust because half our numbers were eliminated in a just a few years.

It puts in perspective how disproportionately Jew have risen to positions of influence and power in goverment, professions, arts, and academia.

Part of that is an almost genetic drive to be able to control our own fate.

We even convertly placed one of our own as Senator from Virginia.

  2. I think one of the main reasons that liberals are more likely to support the Palestinians is that most of them see the Jews as the big bullies oppressing the helpless minority. If anything, it is the other way around.

  3. Jim S says:

One thing both sides in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict have in common is giving too much power to their fanatical religious minority. The Israelis have given too much power to those who believe in Greater Israel and insist on the sacredness of the West Bank settlements and the Palestinians have Hamas and Islamic Jihad. So long as this situation continues there will never be peace.

The numerical superiority of Muslims does not give the Israeli government a blank check to steal from and kill the Palestinians or the Lebanese.

The Palestinians are the “helpless minority.” They have no money, no advanced weaponry, no food, and thanks to the Israelis, increasingly less land.

  5. O please.

They’re only helpless because other countries in the Mideast have decided that its better to keep them poor, to use them to feed hatred against the U.S. and Israel.

  6. C.Prez says:

    You’re copping please, MvdG.

The Palestinian territory is being occupied by Israel. Israel is attacking, kidnapping, killing them. Israel is stealing their land. Israel is blockading them. That has nothing to do with other mideast countries.

Your argument is akin to saying that slavery in American was the fault of the African nations.

  8. WEVS1 says:

The Palestinians would have had a state a long, long, time ago if they wanted to live in peace with Israelis instead of engaging in wars and terrorism.

“Your argument is akin to saying that slavery in American was the fault of the African nations.”

African *leaders* were complicit in the slave trade. African *nations* were the victim of the slave trade.

Because the palestinians weren’t doing anything agressive like threatening to destroy Israel from the get go or anything. Chris, there are innocent victims in the world, but the Palestinians are not them. They like all the neighbors of Israel have openly espoused Israel’s destruction from day 1. They are in the sad state they are in today because of the warlike and uncompromising leadership in the past that has gotten them there.

  10. chris says:

    Slamfu and WEVS1,
I hope you both realize that you are talking about collectively punishing the Palestinians.

Collective punishment is outlawed by international law.
