CNN reports that the race for US Senate is down to two States: Montana and Virginia. Personally, I believe that Allen should go if not for anything else, than for his stupid ‘macaca’ remark, but that’s just me.
Anyway:
In Montana, Republican Sen. Conrad Burns was running behind his Democratic challenger, state Sen. John Tester. If Tester wins, Democrats could secure Senate control by winning in Virginia, where embattled Republican Sen. George Allen trailed his Democratic challenger, Jim Webb, by fewer than 6,000 votes out of more than 2.3 million counted. (Full Senate news)
Under Virginia law, the apparent loser can request a recount after the votes have been certified if the margin is less than 1 percent of the total votes cast. If that happens, the result may not be clear for weeks.
Webb declared victory early Wednesday, saying, “The votes are in, and we won.”
But Allen wasn’t backing down. “The election continues,” he said.
From CNN.com, Montana:
(D) Tester 174,045 49%
(R) Burns (Incumbent) 172,302 48%
(L) Jones 9,131 3%

Again from CNN.com, Virginia:

99% precincts reporting – Updated: 5:54 a.m. ET
It seems more and more that my ‘gut feeling’ was accurate. Everyone will, obviously, have to wait, but it is clear that America has sent a message to Bush and the GOP in general: they want change. Corruption seems to be alive and well and Iraq has been lost due to the incompetence of the Bush administration and the unwillingness of the House and Senate to question the failing policies in before-mentioned country.
Republicans lost the support of Independents. One can simply not win the elections without their support.
I understand myself just fine. And I understand the hairs you’re trying to split. And I understand the last recourse of one with no argument is to claim ‘no one understands’ or ‘you don’t understand’.
The prisons statement was a metaphor, I had hoped one that would be understood, for a society without consequences.
Uh, well, I am glad you understand yourself. My point was that I’m obviously having difficulty interpreting you correctly, so I don’t see the point in trying again, especially when you think I’m splitting hairs with what I thought was a pretty reasonable inferrence from what you wrote.
Then I’m glad we can agree that Clinton has nothing to do with the need to bring accountability to the current administration. I wonder he why he was referenced in the first place.
man o man o man.
Just taking a review of today’s posts, it’s pretty clear – like I think Rambie was saying. Who’s here just to spew hate.
Many conservative or conservative-leaning individuals here wanted a version of the elections to happen. Many more are taking a wait and see attitude on what the Dem’s do.
Still others – cannot let go of the frothing at the mouth hatrid they have – overlooking that they’re in a position to actually do something about it now – the something they’ve been screaming for.
sorry mean still others as in people – not party specific.
