The Left’s Limbaugh

As much as I used to enjoy Olbermann’s commentary, I fear Alan Stewart Carl is correct about how Keith has gone wrong.

  1. Kim, I just call ‘em as I see ‘em. Maybe we need to “political 12-step program” to rid us hypocrisy. I’m adult enough to admit that I, at times, can be blind to hypocrisy.

Now we’ll see how mad I made both sides. (looks to the left… looks to the right…) “uh oh.” (begins to put on flame-resistant suit) Is it getting hot in here or is it just the flame-throwers?

lol. it is, sadly, true though.

Grog- Yes every election it gets worse- I may stop watching TV in the fall of ’08 because the ads are so poisonous and are bringing out the worst in all of us. I do condemn the use of the Hitler rhetoric from everyone—it is inflammatory and in my opinion comes close to hate speech.

But what happens if we go on like we have been with one party rule- no governmental oversight over the executive, widespread corruption in congress and Iraq, our national debt constantly increasing? Yes, I get it that many have prospered under the tax cuts and low regulatory environment—but at what cost to the rest who haven’t?

I think Americans need to feel good again about their country and their government-they need to trust that the fox is not in charge of guarding the henhouse. We want to believe that we are loved and envied by the rest of the world ==not feared and despised. We need to be able to trust in our electoral process and that those who govern at leas t posess minimal competence. We have been demoralized by sleazy politicians for too long.

Olbermann’s default style is cerebral and courtly. Listening to him over the months, there has been nothing in his presentation, logically or stylistically, to criticise. It won him points with the critics and the cerebral crowd, but his unique insight wasn’t breaking through to the audience beyond his established one.

Circumstances in the country have reached a point where it must.

The reason KO’s Special Comments sound “over the top” to moderates is that most of you are already there! He’s not saying these things to you. He’s talking primarily to the members of this administration — whom he’d have to go a long way to match in the area of bombast! — telling them they’re not fooling him with their rhetorical shell games or scaring him with their absurd characterizations of those who oppose their policies.

Editorials may follow the rules of etiquette, but manifestos generally are not delivered politely.
