Tripoli – The elder son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has called on Pope Benedict XVI to convert to Islam immediately, dismissing last week’s apology from the pontiff for offending Muslims.“If this person were really someone reasonable, he would not agree to remain at his post one minute, but would convert to Islam immediately,” Mohammed Gaddafi told an awards ceremony on Monday evening for an international competition to memorise the Qur’an.

This must be a new definition of reasonable… On the other hand, someone with the last name Gaddafi making crazy talk? I’ll bet nobody could have seen that one coming!
Honestly though, the rest of the Gaddafi children are actually fairly moderate (especially the younger two sons). It sounds like the oldest son spent too much time with his dad when he was in the crazy revolutionary phase.

Funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time. I thought Libya was our great friend now.
Nope, not a great friend, still a third world country headed by a crazy dictator. However, he’s no longer a crazy dictator with a nuclear weapons program, and that works just fine for me. See, there are some people that you can’t make friends with, but intimidation sometimes protects our interests in those cases.
