Archbishop of Sydney: Muslim World Proves Pope Right

The ‘Mujahideen Shura Council – an umbrella group led by Iraq’s branch of al Qaida’ – joined in on the fun:, it vowed ‘a war against the “worshippers of the cross”‘. No surprise there of course.

Meanwhile, the Archbishop of Sydney, rightfully, said that the reaction to the lecture of the Pope, proved the Pope right.

The Pope should have known better than to say something like this in any context. It was a boneheaded thing to do. However, the reaction of the Muslim world just goes to reinforce the perception that they cannot be relied upon to act rationally. After something like this, or the cartoon episode, you have to wonder how long the Muslim world would be satisfied with any conceivable concession we gave them in exchange for peace. How long would it take before they took up arms against us once again over some minor slight?

  2. I am afraid that everything but “Mohammed is God’s prophet” is, in the long run, not suffice. But what if I / we do not agree with that?

I am always talking about extremists, btw, not about moderates. There is one thing I wonder about, though, and that is where the heck are these moderates?
The time has arrived for moderate Muslims to reclaim their faith. If they don’t… things will run completely out of hand. Even more than now.

    Man! You are wacked!
Since when does the Mujahideen Shura Council speak for all of Islam?

Why do you want so much for there to be a real physical war between Islam and Christianity? Where in the New Testament does Jesus encourage this? Aren’t Christians supposed to be friends with those of other religions in order to convert them through demonstration of love and hope? For that matter, didn’t Jesus say to love your enemies for that very reason? Yes, he said to be smart and protect yourself, but in a very limited way and BE SMART about it. Condemning all of Islam is NOT the way to do it. All it does is give them reason to hate Christianity, anyone claiming to be a Christian, and any nation giving the impression of being a “Christian” nation.

I’m sure you have really good answers to all this. Just like Hitler had really good reasons why Jews were the cause of all of Germany’s problems.
Yes, you SOUND like a Nazi. And yes, I know that the Dutch have first-hand experience with Hitler’s attitude of superiority and disdain for entire religious and cultural groups. So what? – you obviously didn’t learn from it.

An ironic post if I’ve ever seen one…

  5. So what? – you obviously didn’t learn from it.

    Now, that’s funny.

Winston Churchill was quite a nazi, wasn’t he? If you do not know what I am talking about, do some research.

  6. Chris says:

Winston Churchill was quite a nazi, wasn’t he?

    Where did THAT come from?

I’m not a big fan of the Brits either, for the same reasons, and I am WELL aware of Churchill’s shortcomings.

More importantly, why don’t you respond to the rest of my post? Why don’t you address my main point that your comments toward Islam – ALL of Islam – do nothing but ensure that your irrational contempt generates support for Al Qaida among desperate Moslems.
Obviously you don’t dare. Or care.

Your arrogance would be impressive if it didn’t get so tired.

  7. Charles says:

    Like I said, Ironic.

  8. MichaelF says:

How is it ironic Charles ? Please explain .

  9. grognard says:

I don’t see how a moderate statement by a Muslim would get much press, “lets everybody calm down isn’t all that sensational. Hamas, Hezbollah would be a completely different story. The problem here is that, like it or not, it is time for people in the Popes position to measure their words. We don’t need to put any more ammo in the hands of Al Qeada who will use any statement to further inflame. Yeah its not fair that Iranian governmental officials can make comments about eliminating Israel, but that is just reality at least for now, we can always come back to what they said later when times have changed.

  10. Charles says:

Ironic: throwing names, hurling insults, and generally not having an ounce of calm whist talking about being a “good Christian.”

  11. MichaelF says:

That’s not an example of irony charles .
