The folks at Unity08 invited yours truly to write a centrist/moderate-oriented column on their new website. And even though my vote does not belong to anyone or any party until the second I vote, I agreed.
The first column is a bit of an introduction that also touches on what’s happening among centrists these days. READ IT HERE.
Links to the weekly column will be posted on TMV.
Retarded.
Well, thanks Thomas, for showing us the kind of constructive partisan thought and dialogue that now dominates political discussion in this country.
Your Welcome
……are you sincere would you like to engage in a civilized dialogue?
if so then allow me ask a question
why do ‘moderates’ allow the media to hijack the very
definition of words, and create lies that get perpetuated by the
coporate media?
Here’s a good archive from one of a “Multitude” of Perspectives

While your outlook would appear to be pretty uncontroversial – i.e. keep monitoring the data, and as the data changes, update your viewpoint – that turns out to be a pretty signficant statement.
For example, suppose some policy is predicated on the notion that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice versus an inborn characteristic. This leads to a number of different positions. I heard someone speaking on KPBS “These Days” about the position of various churches about this.
Position 1 was: Homosexuality is a choice, and a sin. You need therapy, prayer, and medication to cure you physically and spiritually.
Position 2 was: Homosexuality may or may not be a choice, however it is a sin. Just as a person must deal with other individual predispositions towards various sins (e.g. greed, fornication, etc) it is their particular burden to overcame temptation by that sin.
Position 3 was: Homosexuality was not a choice, and was ok.
The point about all of this is that there is no peaceful coexistence between someone who believes that homosexuality is a lifestyle choice because they believe the Bible tells them it’s a choice (I’m not a Bible expert so I have no idea) and somebody who believes that empirical science will determine whether it is innate or learned behavior, and is willing to listen to the data when it comes. The point is that the first person is simply not interested in the scientific data – it is not relevant to their view.
So I wouldn’t underestimate the significance of your choice to be willing to listen to new input and change your positions.
Joe,
Congratulations with yet another new adventure.
