Re your book on the Constitution, sometimes when I want to know something that requires deep attention for sustained periods, I listen to it on audio, instead of reading. There are some great scholarly but accessible audios out there on serious subjects like this. Use Google or Dogpile to find them. Some are free. Some have to be purchased. But, also there are library rentals for free.

Aside from the many things wrong with the “climate change” environmentalist and socialist politics that are infecting and misusing science, this too is wrong. A number of people already are known to be ready to become eco-barons (my preferred term) if governments (using bogus “science” or not) seek a cap-and-trade scheme in the West, and in addition the eco-barons (some of whom already have profited from this political movement, which is the truth about what it is), there are the market-makers and the numerous other intermediaries just waiting to benefit from such a scheme. That's simply the most blatant example.

There's no excuse for a perverse carbon or energy tax meant to cripple industry and the economy, but at least that has stronger logic and a stronger case on its side.

Well, no they haven't. Investigations abound about the email hacking incident. Nothing, however, has actually discredited the science because Hadley Centre is not the only research center studying climate. There are thousands of scientists studying the science. They are not all engaged in some strange conspiracy against our freedom. They simply do the scientific research they love. They don't become wealthy doing it. They are just curious about the facts and do their best to discover them.

But even though this isn't quite what she meant here's a little fact for you. Until the legislative process is over and done we never know what is in any bill. That's the nature of our system. The House passes one version. The Senate passes another. They go to conference. A final version is hammered out. Then there's another vote. Only then do we know what has made it through the whole process.

If I wanted to challenge your intelligence, there would be simpler ways to go about that, sir. Neither do I think I am better than anyone else. But if my diction makes you feel inadequate, the onus is on you—not me—to repair.

And for the record, I understand your basic point about government expansion. In fact, I largely agree—albeit not as emphatically. I'm a goddamn moderate conservative for Heaven's sake. But you turned me sour very quickly when you started spouting the mindless rhetoric I hear again and again from extremist nutjobs. Why? Because there is no room for debate in such categorical, black and white statements. So why should I even bother?
