As part of the launch of his new campaign web site, George Phillips (candidate for Congress in New York’s 22nd district) has compiled a list of the “Top Ten Hits” of his opponent, Maurice Hinchey. (D-NY) Included are priceless video memories of the congressman calling for a takeover of the oil industry by the federal government, accusations that George Bush intentionally let bin Laden get away, and his failing grades from the American Taxpayer Union and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Enjoy this walk down memory lane.

Jazz, this is so welcome, so overdue in that part of Blue Nation.
I lived in Upstate from 2004-2006, which included the period when Social Security reform was sought by the Bush administration, featuring a “private” [sic] account system and conversion from defined benefit entitlement nature to a defined contribution, or 401(k)-style, system (and a switch from pay-as-you-go or Ponzi-scheme intergenerational to something better resembling a fully funded system, which was lost).
At this time the Dems had the best chance ever to size the initiative, rescue “their” program, which they, they Dems, “own,” and win public acclaim and votes for years to come. Yet, incredibly, they actually chose not to do anything at all themselves, and resisted any change at all, willingly lying about the state of the program and its future! It was incredible how dishonest, stupid, and self-debsasing they chose to be.
And a stellar example of their misconduct, misleading people against reform, was provided by none other than Maurice Hinchey (something I've said before but merits mention here on this thread because it's another gem of his, one of his best). “Social Security will be more value later if we leave it alone now,” he said to gullible people during travels through the Southern Tier.
A failing grade from the American Taxpayer's Union and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, both Republican shill groups, isn't something to criticize anyone over, whatever else they might have done.
Maurice Hinchey is out of touch like so many Liberal Democrats. He has been on the small list of Congress people opposing sanctions against Iran. When it comes to National Security or Israel he has been in a tiny minority voting the wrong way. Here is a list of some of those votes: http://www.2010-elections.blogspot.com/
