CNN Will Do Another Independent Voter Panel Discussion Today

cnn_logo.jpg

NOTE: CNN’s Don Lemon is going to do another independent voter panel discussion today (the most likely topic wil bel panelists’ reaction to the health care reform summit). As was the case in weekend segments over the past four weeks, I’ll be on a panel with Omar Ali, the historian and independent, voting analyst and Nicole Kurokawa, an independent voting analyst in Washington.

Unlike past weeks when the discussion aired live, it’ll be taped this afternoon (most likely due to continuing Chile earthquake coverage). So I do not have a firm air time.

ALSO: TMV has lots of writers but today is a Sunday. I will be 100 percent offline until about 8 pm PST. Keep checking back on TMV for new posts. If there are few or no new posts during the day, they will resume tonight. TMV has seldom had a day since it started with no or new or very posts but if it happens it’s due to unusual circumstances. The regular flow of posts will resume no later than 8 pm PST.

Joe — when you return — note and file:

The health care issue is paramount this week, but next week one of the biggest Supreme Court cases ever is being heard. This is now something of a “sleeper” because of the health care effort and resolution of Dem-GOP legislative conflict in the Senate, but it's really one of the biggest cases ever:

It's the Chicago area handgun ban case, McDonald v. City of Chicago.

Liberals, who disparage constitutional federalism, will be interested in this as an alternative to federal gun control, as well as because it involves gun control, of course. This has to be the most important gun control case in several years. Federalism is involved because an argument that will probably be heard is that the Second Amendment (absolute prohibition on federal gun control, at least) may apply only to the federal government.

This may be the biggest gun control case ever, and is a BIG federalism issue.

The wackiest, most extreme leftists actually call gun control a “public health” issue and hopefully this nonsense won't enter into the Court arguments.

  2. The gun issue sucks. Anyone who has strong feelings on the issue, one way or the other, is automatically a boor who I dislike.

LOL!! Yeah, I've had my fill. Criminals will continue to own guns, honest people will continue to own them, and violence-wise, it doesn't really matter one way or another.

Fix the greed and fear problem in our country and you fix the gun violence problem.
