Qaddafi, Chavez, Etc.

Dan Drezner notes that Libya’s weirdo-in-chief is not happy about being deposed as head of the African Union. I just have to ask, what kind of continent chooses Muammar Qaddafi as its spokesman anyhow?

Probably a continent with so many problems that are so much worse it doesn’t care if Qaddafi is its nominal representative. If Hugo Chavez is ever chosen as Supreme Guru of the Western Hemisphere, it will only be because things are already so awful we just stopped caring.

(Btw, Dan, you spelled Qaddafi’s name three different ways in a single post.)

Not to put to fine a point on it but you could do a lot worse than Hugo Chavez, he hasn't run death squads, he hasn't disappeared anyone, does not run any death camps, hasn't used torture as state policy, hasn't started any wars nor bombed any foreign country thousand of miles away from his own, just those facts make him a better leader than 80% of the leaders of the Western Hemisphere in the 20% century…

You have hit a new low.

Dduck hit the nail on the head when he said you hit a new low. He's a great Communist leader, as were Lenin, Mao Tse Tung, etc.

And you forgot Mr. Chavez's most recent quote:
“The United States caused the catastophe in Haiti with their 'earthquake machine'.”

    Yeah….. He's a gem.

    Really?

Are you by any chance familiar with the names Somoza, Duvalier, Castro, Pinochet, Stroessner, Videla, Lyra Tavares, Hamann Rademaker Grunewald, de Souza e Mello, Fujimori?

And I won't mention any US leaders who aren't much better…

Check the news, Chavez is still making it in a negative way.

And you'll observe that in that love paen to Chavez, the words “Death Squads”, “Disappeared”, “Torture” or “Death Camps” were not used… But the word “Election”, “Referendum”, “Petition” & “Opposition” were used…

Chavez is a democratically elected president, twice… Whether or not you like his policies, he is far from the worst or most evil political leader the Western Hemisphere has seen in the 20th Century…

Baby Huey and his Bolivarian Revolution are still the darling of the far Left.

I guess Don Q. would prefer a real hero now that Obama may move more toward the center.

Perfect description. Cracks me up and hits it on the mark. Like our former juvenile-in-chief…
