Thanks dubya, and, your republican party for the poison pill you fed to our economy before leaving office and dumping it all on President Obama. Thanks for the massive debt and astonishing deficit.
Actually, getting the President to focus on jobs is a ruse.
And an even bigger one is getting him to alienate the majority of middle grounders by bringing up the gay thing.
He's got some trojan horses whispering in his ears alright. The thing about mass. was about having a leader with cajones. Period. Reading into it more than that is dangerous politically.
Does Obama really fear he will lose the miniscule gay vote? Will young people with gay friends suddenly turn their backs on the only ones willing to fight for their Public Option, in favor of Sarah Palin and the gang? I'm pretty sure that bringing up DADT is a huge error.
The reason DADT exists is because most of the military isn't gay. And furthermore, having grown up in a military town where I met scores and scores and scores of enlisted in my two decades there, I can tell you for a fact that they aren't what you would call open-minded about homosexuality. The reason we have DADT is to keep dissention from happening in the ranks. The last thing a platoon needs to worry about in combat is some latent hostility between its members.
And that's not to mention the numbers of hispanic and black voters traditionally against people advertising their sexuality.
H-U-G-E error. Obama needs to revisit who his advisers are and how loyal they are. Might I suggest firing this one who is essentially encouraging his political suicide and the collective suicide of the democratic party?
Ya gotta feel a little sorry for the guy cuz that saw blade would be coming for anyone who was occupying the office now, regardless of stripe. I expect a good speech tonight, afterall that's what Obama is good at. If there are actions to back it up, then maybe we can get on with the business of governing instead of the dumbass tit for tat interpretation of every political event… but that's a big if.
I hope he puts forth an honest statement and some modest proposals to try to help things rather than a buch of rhetoric. Its time that he get out of campaign mode and into serious governing mode. Give me some reality based details not a steam bath of promises he wont be able to keep.
The speech was okay. He risked sounding like a real loser, again (as with Diane Sawyer), and it was a high-risk thing, but he actually managed to strike at Dubya a time or two without sounding awful, in that speech.
Some of the details were amusing. He blamed most of the fiscal predicament of the feds on Dubya's years while off-loading most of the work to be done getting out of the predicament on the Congress. The partial spending freeze (greatly hyped prior to the address) is actually not taking effect for another year. He is still pushing for some health care legislation, and other pet issues, which is surprising. He paid lip service, at least, to real-world energy choices (nukes, oil and gas offshore, clean coal) but is actually pushing “climate change” politics-based energy policy — at cross purposes to recovery from the stimulus. (Promised “green jobs” remain hype, even unicorn stuff at this time.)

We now all owe you debt of hatred.

Obama and democrats shifting to jobs is an effort at grabbing a lifevest on the sinking ship of progressive change.
