Looks like Obama smartened up after his mistaken first portrayal of the guy as an “isolated criminal”. Good to see Obama can learn from his critics.

    A well delivered speech.

He could yet undergo a major transformation and become a good leader. What better time than New Year's to stare into the mirror and realize that your world view does not align with reality?

Praising islam, bashing America, closing down our detention facilities, appeasing the mullahs, acting as if al Qaeda were just criminals — all of this has been an utter failure. Maybe with this staring him in the face he will awaken with new resolve and start doing his job. Why not start the new year with a glimmer of hope?

One good sign, for a change he didn't try to blame Bush this time, not even once. Or offer an apology for America. Or gush about how islam gave us the pen.

I'm basically an optimist. I hope he presses his own reset button, at least on national security.

    You may say I'm a dreamer…
