Yes, this release will certainly stir up some controversy, but most likely not as much as people may want! The Gnostic teachings found in the ‘Gospel’ of Judas were addressed previously by Ireneus (bishop of Lyons) in AD 180, in his treatise ‘Against Heresies.’ Liberal scholar Elaine Pagel’s statement in response to this discovery seems to indicate that there was no orthodoxy at the time, which is quite incorrect. Though Gnosticism presented some difficulties to Orthodox Christianity, it should be noted that this trend came after the establishment of the church and represents a syncretism of philosophy rather than an authentic teaching.
The document itself has significant archaeological value, but as CB says, Christianity has long ago dealt with the inanities of this particular piece of fiction.
Though Jesus Christ, Superstar was still a lot of fun.

bad week for fundies, considering the resignation of tom delay, the duke research study finding that prayer doesn’t really work all that well, the finding of a fossil of the missing link between fish and land animals, and now this.
as edward g. robinson said in the ten commandments (the demille one, the only one that counts): where’s your god now, moses? nyah?
Hahaha damn skippy, that was some good stuff there.
We followers of the one true deity offer all christians our sympathy, and a hearty ARGH!. May they all be touched by his noodly appendage, ramen.
