A crazed woman jumped a barrier and rushed at Pope Benedict XVI as he made his way up the aisle at the Vatican to perform the traditional Christmas Eve Mass.
The woman was caught by security guards before she could reach the 82-year-old Pope, who was untouched and barely broke stride. [...]
The unidentified woman was arrested by the Vatican’s Swiss Guards. Italian media reports said she was mentally ill.
Or maybe she was angry that the pope has moved Pope Pius XII one step closer to sainthood:
Benedict confirmed the “heroic virtues” of Pius — along with those of John Paul II — on Saturday, opening the door to beatification once a miracle is attributed to each. A second miracle would be required for sainthood.
The move created anger among many Jewish groups, which have argued that Pius did not speak out vocally enough against the Nazis or intervene to save Jews during World War II, and that the Vatican helped many former Nazis escape to South America after World War II.
Here’s more, via Andrew Sullivan, on the Catholic church’s shameful bid to rewrite Holocaust history.
The only “miracle” is that the Jews didn't off pope pissoff the second after the war.
As for this unfortunate woman, I'm sure the Vatican will get the truth out of her one way or another.
Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men, (and boys). Women they suppress.
“In his homily, delivered after the incident, Benedict urged the world to 'wake up' from selfishness and petty affairs, and find time for God and spiritual matters.”
Contrary to these empty words, and in the hypocritical spirit of modern catholicism, the woman was arrested and is spending Christmas Eve in jail–demonstrating to the world what Catholics, and most other denominational “religions,” mean by “love.”
Neither Jesus nor his followers ever availed themselves of bodyguards, and according to Christian writings, when someone touched the hem of His garments, he did not exhibit the helpless weakness that shifted authority to the state. The woman was probably just trying to reach the symbol of religious leadership as the person in the Bible story did. It was the fault of the bodyguards that this figurehead, mind set on a pharisaical ritual, fell over.
What moral leader leaves it to the police to react to such an event–handing the same world that killed Christ its antichrist Christmas Eve victory?
“Merry Christmas
