By the way, here is the full quote from the actual article. I've boldfaced the critical part of the quote left out of the AP piece which tells you whether Stern was mad or joking. Tell me if anyone's powers of perception can pick up the difference: I was just at my psychiatrist and I said, ''I just got great news: We hit the 4 million mark. And I'm angry. It should be 20 million.'' It's insulting to me that everyone hasn't come with me. I take it personally. The competitive thing is a sickness that eats at me. I want to say to my audience in this article, ''F--- you! You haven't come with me yet? How dare you?'' [Laughs] ''We're up to wild, crazy stuff, the show has never sounded better. You cheap bastard!'' If this AP writing can screw up such an easy piece of journalism they should be fired for gross incompetence before they tarnish the AP's image by screwing the pooch on an important story.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that he was clearly saying this in a tongue in cheek fashion. He was joking around about how neurotic he is. That this has become an AP story with that kind of headline, is simply astounding. I don’t have much faith in the mainstream media and if they can’t get simple details about this straight..

I don’t see where the guy who posted did that at all. Virtually his whole post is quoting the AP post. It’s a post about an AP post. Unless you are on the phone with Howard Stern, what proof do you have that the AP story is false. And if Stern did blow this story up, as he notes in his post, it’s to his credit (as he suggests if you read the end of his post) because he understands how the news media works and how to generate publicity. This AP story will probably get some people to decide to check him out. So his words are carried in Entertainment Weekly and the AP and his listeners from the old show get to think “hey, maybe I should check howard out.” Where is that trashing Stern? This post doesn’t look like the author spent a whole lot of time on it — he just quoted AP.

Yet another article written without the author knowing a damn thing about what they are covering. You’d think that Howard Stern was on a rampage complaining about how no one followed him to Sirius. How about you do a little due dilegence and actually listen to his show. He has repeatedly stated how pleased he is with the current carry over and that he believes a significant portion will cross over eventually as well. Of course he’d rather have it all happen at once rather than over a period of time, but who wouldn’t? The show hasn’t been this good in 10-15 years and the more people hear about it the more they will be switching. I know several people who are just holding off until their next car purchase, when the satellite radio is integrated rather than as a second control. You blame Howard Stern for blowing up this story intentionally. Looks like the clueless AP reporter is the one that contrived this controversy all on their own.
