That’s dead on. A moderate and a centrist are not the same thing. You can be a moderate and be on the left or be a moderate and be on the right. The moderates are just the ones playing devil’s advocate with those at the far-left and the far-right. Moderation is the opposite of extremism.
Playing devil’s advocate? So, moderates make the middle look appealing? That would explain the increase in swing voters, I guess. But, I dont think it has anything to do with moderates being pro-active–it’s more a falling-out of both parties.
