Abdul Rahman May Not Be Screwed

This is very good news:

An Afghan Christian facing possible execution for converting from Islam was likely to be released from jail “soon,” a senior government official said following huge Western pressure over the case.

“He is likely to be released soon,” the official said, adding there would be a top-level meeting on the matter Saturday.

Awesome. Religious freedom deserves no less.

Even if the Afghan authorities let him go, I gather he’ll still be in a lot of danger. I’ve read a number of quotes from citizens promising to kill him anyway. It seems we’ve fostered a government that truly reflects the will of it’s people…
