One month after Bush won the first election the spending constraints that produced a surplus were eliminated, and we were off to the deficit races. I don't like either party and vote to keep gridlock in place. Give the entire cookie jar to one political party and you have problems. What we really need is a center party, or at least a PAC that helps center candidates.

"The problem is you don't vote for a party," Strother said. "You're voting for a member of Congress. And we're a year away."

Yes. Well.

It could be as simple as this:

"If you like the direction we're going in, if you think everything is fine, if you want more of the same -- vote for the Republican candidate for Congress.

"If you want a change in direction, if you think there are things that need fixing, if you want to put an end to business as usual -- vote for the Democratic candidate for Congress."

The Republicans carried a similar message in 1994. What about the "Contract on America" you say? If you look at the polls from back then, only a small number of people had even heard about it. It wasn't a factor.

Yea they cooked the data...

Maybe those stupid shits over at "newbusters" should take a sociology class so they understand how random sample polls work.

I'd like to see one of them actually read Alterman's What Liberal Media? and then honestly say that they think the media has a liberal bias.
