He did better among the dumb and gullible. Not surprising. Conservatism usually does.
Your comment certainly detracts from that argument. The Dumb and gullible can be found aplenty among Conservatives and Liberals. Both groups do best among them.
Agree with Leonidas here, plenty of dumbness to go around. That said, the 21st century incarnation of conservatism has a definite corner on that market. It wasn't always that way though, something weird happened to the GOP somewhere near the end of the 20th century and the infection hasn't been stemmed yet.
To quote John Stuart Mill (1806 – 1873): “Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative.”
In that time period, those labels meant two completely different things. Liberal was closer to libertarian, conservatives favored bigger, more powerful government and slavery.
I'd recommend that you read the entire wiki bio of John Stuart Mill. After I did the difference you have implied doesn't seem that great.
FWIW – He is also quoted as saying:
He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that.
A party of order or stability, and a party of progress or reform, are both necessary elements of a healthy state of political life.
A person may cause evil to others not only by his actions but by his inaction, and in either case he is justly accountable to them for the injury.
In all intellectual debates, both sides tend to be correct in what they affirm, and wrong in what they deny.
We all have our own believes of what 'conservatives' and 'liberals' are… John Mill positions are in my opinion the same as the positions of the liberals of today. Though you're welcome to your own point of view.
I'll stick with Professor Elwood's _round_ earth description of Mill and his politics. No equality or awarding an A for all for others simply because they also exist.
“The radical of one century is the conservative of the next. The radical invents the views. When he has worn them out the conservative adopts them.” — Mark Twain
“When you are right you cannot be too radical; when you are wrong, you cannot be too conservative.” — Martin Luther King Jr.
I'm sure that a lot of people have suggestions for who they'd like to send over there!
More like a dud than a bomb…
Hypocrite dud at that.

“suggestions for who they'd like to send over there”
Prisoner exchange! Osama bin Laden for Sarah Palin, and Glenn Beck thrown in as a sweetener.
